Because of Romek: OP#4

1. Wow, that's a hard question, there were so many horrible things that happened in this book. I think that one of the worst parts in the book was Romeks death, when David Faber described this he described it to the last detail, and I couldn't stand it, I  cried.  I can't believe that people would actually do something like that, this part in the book was just so shocking and horrible.

2. In Krawinkle David's job is to feed the dogs.  This was a hard and scary job for him but in  way it was a good thing that he got this job because it saved him from doing the harder jobs of the camp and he got to eat some of the dogs food.

3. The last camp that David goes to is pretty intense, there are dead bodies everywhere, and if you are not dead, you are dying, I could barely imagine this camp in my head, like most of the things that I read in this book, i couldn't believe that it was real.  At this last camp David was very sick and he was weeks away from dying, I cannot believe he survived, he got lucky in so many situations in this book.

4. It is so sad how when people started saying 'were free' most people did not believe them, because they were prisoned for so long.  David went through so much and I think that his most triumphant moment was when he finally realized 'I survived', finally realized that it was all over, and realized that he ended up keeping his promise to his mother.

5. David Faber's book Because of Romek, should be required in all middle schools, high schools, and universities because all students should learn about the horrors of the Holocaust.  This book is about a teenage boy that went through many terrible evets caused by Hitler and the Nazi's.  The Holocaust a horrible genocide of the past and students should be educated about it so that they can learn about what people had to go through.  It is important to learn about the Holocaust so that another Holocaust does not reapeat in the future.

Renaissance Ball Project Reflection

~Name~
Sofia Garcia

~Project~
Renaissance Ball Project

~Class~
BD

~Dates~
June 5th 2008

Purpose:
The purpose of this project was to go back in time to the Renaissance and become a famous Renaissance character. In order to become an important Renaissance figure we had to research them, create a biography on them, and lastly we had to become them in a Renaissance Ball. To prepare for the Renaissance Ball we had to learn about how they dressed and danced back then, and while we were at the ball we got to learn all about other famous Renaissance figures.

What I learned:
In this project I was Ferdinand Magellan, so I learned all about him. Magellan was the first explorer to lead a voyage that went all around the world. Before this project I had never heard of Magellan before, now I know all about his life. In this project I didn't only learn about Magellan, but I also learned about other things in the Renaissance, we learned about many aspects of the Renaissance including literature, the arts, science, mathematics, cartography, engineering, the human anatomy, all of these aspects were advanced in the Renaissance. We learned about Florence , which was one of the main city-states of the Renaissance and we learned about what it was like to live there. We also learned about so many other things but it would take forever for me to write it all.

Reflection:
Overall I liked this project because I learned so much about the Renaissance. My least favorite part was taking all of the notes on the Renaissance because it took a long time and it hurt my hand. My favorite part was getting ready for the Renaissance ball because it was fun to chose what we were going to wear. If I were to do this project again I would probably spend more time on my biography because I felt that it could have been longer.
